Una vida en dos ruedas “Una vida en dos ruedas” or A Life On Two Wheels is a documentary short about the urban cycling movement in Puerto Rico. It was selected by the Puerto Rico Film Commission as one of five documentary finalists in the MICROS 2011 short film competition. The film features interviews with some of the leading voices driving the push towards a more bike-friendly environment for Puerto Rico’s cycling community, including Jorge Peredo of the Puerto Rico Bicycle Coalition and Luis Rafael Robles of PRFixed.com. Its soundtrack includes some of the most innovative independent artists from Puerto Rico’s burgeoning music scene. Following a private screening event at the Fine Arts Cinema Café (Hato Rey, PR), “Una vida en dos ruedas” had its “street premiere” on July 11, 2012 at a Bicinema event organized by PRFixed.com. The short was shown to hundreds of cyclists at the Corona Commercial Park in Santurce. It is available for viewing online. Running Time: 11:49 min. Archipielago Our first online music video series showcases the work of Puerto Rico’s most talented independent artists currently active in the local scene. Our goal is to share the sounds of our archipelago with the rest of the world. Each episode consists of a live studio session with an artist or band, interspersed with interview segments, and can be viewed from the project’s official website, as well as Puerto Rico Indie’s Youtube channel . Artists featured to date include: Alegría Rampante, Calle 13, Campo Formio, Dávila 666, Las Robertas (Costa Rica), Los Niños Estelares, Mima, and Tachdé. Residente Calle 13 Interview René Pérez Joglar, aka Residente Calle 13, is one of Puerto Rico’s most successful and controversial artists - as well as one of Latin America’s most inspiring figures in popular culture. A avid Twitter user and fan of PuertoRicoIndie.com, René invited us to his apartment on July 3, 2012 for an exclusive interview in which he spoke candidly about his band, the role social media has played in his career, the revolutionary movements born out of his lyrics, and the independent music scene, among other topics. The interview was published as part of our Archipiélago web video series. .com Online Video Guide .com, Puerto Rico’s Premier Online Video Guide, allows visitors from all around the world to discover Puerto Rico’s best tourist attractions, hidden riches, and natural wonders through 150+ high-quality video productions filmed throughout the entire island. videos are produced with the modern traveler in mind and allow visitors to discover Puerto Rico from their computer, iPhone or iPod touch. Our production team first got together way back in 2005, right after the first iPod with video had been released. We had just completed our first issue of a self-published travel-magazine geared towards local university students, but this new technology inspired us to change directions. And so began the development of what became .com. The first version of our website launched July 2007 with the support of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. It has since received close to four-million pageviews. .com was awarded the SME WebAd Award for Best Website 2009 by the Sales & Marketing Executives Association of Puerto Rico. The project was adapted for Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch mobile devices in 2011, and is currently available for purchase through the App Store as Wonders of Puerto Rico . Salud y Solidaridad “Salud y Solidaridad” or Health And Solidarity is a documentary short about the nocturnal routes of Iniciativa Comunitaria, a local non-profit organization created by Dr. José Vargas Vidot in order to treat Puerto Rico’s destitute. Every Friday night, as most people get ready to go out with friends, unwind and celebrate the end of their workweek, a group of volunteers - many of them students - take a road less traveled. Far from the idyllic vacation vistas more associated with ‘The Isle of Enchantment’ - as the Caribbean destination is famously known - the nocturnal routes organized by Iniciativa Comunitaria take a small group of volunteers on weekly scheduled visits to some of Puerto Rico’s most impoverished areas, providing the homeless with basic health care, supplies - and human warmth. The nocturnal routes are an example of the type of work needed to strengthen our communities by helping those most in need. “Salud y Solidaridad” was selected by the Puerto Rico Film Commission as one of five documentary finalists in the MICROS 2010 short film competition. It was first shown at a private screening event at the Fine Arts Cinema Café (Hato Rey, PR) and later through Puerto Rico’s public access television station, PRTV. The documentary was awarded a 3rd Place mention in the Professional Portraits of Organizations category at the My Hero International Film Festival in 2011. Running Time: 10:31 min.
